How to Manage Your Bills
A sticky note. A phone reminder. A mental note that fails every third month. Budgett replaces all of it with one honest system.
How a Bill Gets Created
You don't build a separate "bill" object somewhere else. Any category with a due date set becomes a bill automatically, and shows up in your Bills List on its own.
The Core Habit: The Checkbox
- Tick a bill paid, and three things happen at once. First, it's marked paid with today's date.
- It's logged as a real transaction in that category's history.
- If you've picked a funding source, the money is really taken out of Cash on Hand or a bank account, or added to a credit card's balance.
Don't Skip the Funding Source
Tap any bill's name to see its full status: how much is due, when, whether a funding source is picked, and whether it's paid. Anything missing shows in red. Pick a source right there, and the bill will always know where its money comes from.
Auto-Pay (Plus & Pro)
Once a funding source is set, flip Auto-Pay on and that bill pays itself when it's due. No tapping, no forgetting. You still see where your money goes.
Future Bills Don't Clutter Today
Something due next month gets parked in its own section at the bottom, clearly labeled, so it never mixes with what actually needs your attention right now. The moment that month arrives, it moves up into the main list on its own.
3 Habits Worth Building
- Check your Bills List once a week, not just when a reminder comes. A few days early is better than the day it's due.
- Pick a funding source for every bill, even ones you pay by hand. It turns a checkbox into a real record.
- If a bill's amount changes month to month, update it before you tick it paid. That's the number you'll see later.
Budgett won't stop you from marking something paid before you actually paid it. But it remembers what you told it, when, and which account it came from. That's what matters most when you want to know where your money goes.
Open your Bills List right now. Tap one bill and check: does it have a funding source picked? If not, pick one. That one habit turns Bills from a checklist into a real record.
