Choosing Your Profile Type
Budgett asks who you are on day one for a reason. Your profile type changes the words you see and a few things on your screens, so the app speaks your language.
The 4 Profile Types
- VA / Freelancer: you work remotely for clients, or get paid per project. Your income comes from clients, often in dollars.
- Self-Employed / Business Owner: you run your own business. Your income comes from your business.
- Employee: you get a fixed salary from an employer, payday to payday.
- Family Manager: you run the household budget, using the family's income.
What Changes With Each Type
- The Currency Ticker: VAs and freelancers see live exchange rates (like USD โ โฑ) at the top of Home, on by default, because you're usually paid in foreign money. The other 3 types start without it. Anyone can turn it on or off in Profile โ Currency Ticker.
- Income words: VAs see Client, the self-employed see Business, and employees and family managers see Employer.
- Payment names: employees and family managers see 1st Salary and 2nd Salary. Everyone else sees 1st Payment and 2nd Payment.
- Quick picks when logging income: VAs get Wise, PayPal, and Payoneer. Self-employed and family managers get Bank Transfer, GCash, and Cash. Employees get Payroll (Bank), GCash, and Cash. You can always add your own with +.
How to Switch
Go to Profile โ Profile and tap Profile Type. Pick the new one. That's it. Switching never deletes anything you've entered. Your income, bills, budgets, and history all stay exactly as they are. Only the words and the screens above change.
Changing Careers? Do This Too
- Employee โ VA: switch your type, then rename your income source from your old employer to your first client. Tap its name in Budget โ Income to rename it. Add more clients as you land them.
- VA โ Employee: switch your type, then rename a client to your employer. Hide old clients you no longer have in Profile โ Manage Income Sources. Hidden ones can come back within 30 days.
- Doing both? Pick the type that matches where most of your money comes from. A VA with a day job can add the employer as one more income source.
- Update your Expected income for the new month, so your budget plans with your real new income.
Your profile type is about how you earn, not how much. Switch anytime your work changes. Budgett adjusts the words right away, and your history stays safe.
Open Profile โ Profile and check your Profile Type. Does it still match how you earn today? If not, switch it now.
