Your Emergency Fund and Health Score

An emergency fund is money you don't touch until life goes wrong: a lost client, a hospital visit, a broken laptop. Budgett shows how many months you're covered, and scores your whole money health from 0 to 100.

๐Ÿ›ŸSet Up Your Emergency Fund Tracker

  • Open the Spending tab and find the Emergency Fund Tracker.
  • Pick your Essentials: the categories you must pay to get by, like House, Utilities, and Grocery. Give each a budget.
  • Link the savings account(s) you really keep for emergencies.
  • Budgett adds up your essential budgets (your monthly must-haves), and divides your emergency savings by it. That's your months covered.

๐Ÿ“How to Read It

  • The target is 3 months of must-haves. Reach it, and the tracker says On Track.
  • Under 1 month says Urgent. Between 1 and 3 months says Below Target, with how much more you need.
  • Freelancer? Aim higher over time. Income can stop without warning, and 6 months gives you real breathing room.

๐Ÿ’ฏYour Financial Health Score

  • One score from 0 to 100, made of 5 parts worth 20 points each.
  • Savings rate: how much of your income you saved or still have left. 20% or more gets full points.
  • Following your budget: Projected Spending against your budget. Within budget gets full points.
  • Bills paid on time: the share of this month's bills paid by their due date.
  • Emergency fund coverage: months of must-haves saved. 6 months gets full points.
  • Debt load: how much of your income goes to debt payments. Lower is better. 30% or more scores zero.
  • 80 and up is excellent, 60 and up good, 40 and up fair. Under 40 needs work.

๐Ÿ’กIt Tells You What to Fix

Under the score, Budgett lists every part that isn't full yet, in plain words, with what to do. For example: "Aim for 20%. That's about โ‚ฑ2,400 more to set aside or not spend." Early in the month, it uses your Expected income, so your score doesn't drop just because a client hasn't paid yet.

๐Ÿ“Where to See It

On the Spending tab, in Profile โ†’ Financial Health Score, and on the Home page of Budgett Web.

Don't chase 100 in one month. Pick the lowest part of your score and improve just that one. Small wins every month add up.

Try this now

Open the Spending tab, pick your Essentials, and link your emergency account. In one minute, you'll know how many months you could last without income.
