Know Your Net Worth
Most people can tell you their salary down to the peso. Ask what they're worth (what they own minus what they owe) and they can only guess.
What Net Worth Actually Is
Everything you own (cash, savings, investments, property, a paid-off motorcycle) minus everything you owe (credit cards, loans, anything still being paid). What's left is your Net Worth. Not your salary, not your job title. Your actual financial position, in one number.
It's Not a Score. It's a Direction.
A single Net Worth number today doesn't mean much on its own. What matters is watching it move. Once you know where you actually stand right now, it becomes clear what the next 5 to 10 years need to look like to get where you want to go: building assets, paying down debt, or both.
Start Now, Even If It's Small
You don't need a big number to start. ₱5,000 in savings and a ₱20,000 loan is a Net Worth too, even if it's below zero. Net Worth is your financial progress. Tracking it early shows whether you're on track for your long-term goals, one month at a time.
A loan funding something that grows in value is different from one just funding lifestyle spending. Bad debt (high interest, nothing of value behind it) quietly pulls your Net Worth down every month. Seeing it in your real Net Worth makes it hard to ignore.
Budgett Tracks It Automatically
Once your accounts, debts, and assets are in Budgett, your Net Worth updates on its own. No spreadsheet, no math every time a balance changes. Pay down a loan or add to a savings account through the app, and the number simply reflects it.
How to Set It Up in Budgett
- Go to Budget → Net Worth.
- Cash & Savings fill in on their own, from your savings accounts and Cash on Hand.
- Under Assets, tap Add asset for land, a house, a vehicle, jewelry, MP2 or insurance.
- Under Liabilities, tap Connect Existing Debt for debts you already track, or Add Debt Manually.
- Check it once a month. The Net Worth Tracker shows how it moved.
Guarded, Not Just Tracked
Net Worth carries a real biometric lock of its own, apart from the rest of the app. If someone picks up your phone while you're logged in, they still can't see your full money picture.
Debt-to-Asset Ratio
How much of what you own is still owed to someone else. It's what you owe divided by what you own. Under 30% is generally considered optimal, 30-50% worth watching, and over 50% means more than half of what you technically "own" is really owed to lenders.
Liquidity Coverage
If all your short-term debts (like a credit card bill or a personal loan payment) were due today, how much could your cash cover? Cash and Savings always count. For things like mutual funds, Paluwagan, or an insurance fund you can withdraw from, you decide if they count.
Net Worth Tracker
Shows your Net Worth month by month, not just today's number. Basic: this month. Plus: the last 3 months. Pro: every month since you joined.
You can't fix a direction you can't see. Net Worth is what turns a vague feeling about money into an actual number you can watch move.
